Delegates kick-start the construction of the Ngoc My-Thach Than Industrial Zone.
Quoc Oai District on December 26 kicked off the construction of three industrial and crafting zones in the communes of Ngoc My - Thach Than, Nghia Huong, and Ngoc Liep.
The Ngoc My - Thach Than Craft Village Industrial Zone project spans 21 hectares, with a total investment of approximately VND438 billion (US$17.2 million).
As a key initiative of Quoc Oai District, the project aims to attract enterprises in the fields of wood processing, mechanical production, textiles, and other industries focused on clean industrial practices.
The district anticipated that households, enterprises, and facilities currently operating within residential areas and craft villages would relocate their production to the industrial cluster.
This move will reduce environmental pollution in residential zones, create jobs, enhance social welfare, increase local incomes, and boost markets for labor, land, housing, and associated services.
The cluster will also contribute to stable and sustainable government revenues while driving socio-economic development.
The Ngoc Liep Industrial Zone covers an area of approximately 9.8 hectares, with a total investment of VND209 billion ($8.2 million), and the Lien Nghia Industrial Zone spans 10.7 hectares with an investment of VND233 billion ($9.1 million).
Industries planned for these two clusters include household goods manufacturing, forestry product processing, wood and fine woodcraft, mechanical production, construction material manufacturing, and other environmentally friendly industries.
The district is home to 17 craft villages with nearly 3,500 production and business establishments in fields such as garment manufacturing, carpentry, mechanical production, and food processing.
"The industrial clusters are developed to meet the local demand based on the strategic directions and plans for developing the industrial sector," Son said.
"These projects will relocate production facilities from craft villages into centralized industrial zones, reducing environmental pollution in residential areas and promoting sustainable production," he said.
Chairman Son commended the dedication and commitment revealed by project investors and expected the projects to be completed on schedule, delivering the promised quality.
"These projects will significantly contribute to Quoc Oai's socio-economic growth and become industrial clusters with modern and synchronized technical infrastructure."
Construction starts for the Liep Nghia Industry Zone in Nghia Huong Commune.
Nguyen Kieu Oanh, Acting Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that the three industrial clusters, once operational, will bolster the industrial and service sectors in Quoc Oai District and the selected communes.
"These industrial zones will meet the demand for production space, reduce environmental pollution, and unlock the potential for sustainable industrial, small-scale industrial, and craft village development in the area," she said.
The Deputy Director urged relevant departments to work closely with Quoc Oai District to facilitate the implementation of these projects.
Local authorities must enhance their management over the construction of industrial clusters to ensure they adhere to modern standards and maintain a clean, green, and visually appealing environment, she said.
"The Department of Industry and Trade will closely monitor and expedite project progress, and advise the Hanoi People's Committee to ensure these projects come into operation as planned," she added.
Investors must take steps to accelerate the construction process and attract secondary investors to maximize the projects' effectiveness, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the district, Oanh said.
Nguyen Minh Dong, General Director of DSG Infrastructure Investment Corporation, pledged that the investors and contractors will make maximum efforts to complete the projects on schedule.
"We will seek proactive collaboration with government agencies and local authorities to get the projects complete and ready for operating as soon as possible, and lure businesses into the industrial clusters," he said.
