The number of poor households in Hanoi, as measured by the National Multidimensional Poverty Standards for the 2022–2025 period, was zero in 2024, accounting for 0% of the city's total households.
The figure was announced in Decision No.6489/QD-UBND, signed and released by Deputy Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha on December 18 to approve the results of the 2024 review of poor and near-poor households.
According to the decision, there were 890 near-poor households comprising more than 2,100 residents in 2024, representing 0.04% of the city's total households.
In urban areas, there are 15 near-poor households with 41 individuals, accounting for 0.001%, while the figures in rural areas were 875 near-poor households with 2,100 residents, accounting for 0.07%.
In the 2022-2025 period, the number of poor households was also zero, representing 0% of Hanoi's total households.
The number of near-poor households, however, stood at some 9,900, with nearly 28,500 residents, accounting for 0.43% of the city's total households.
In urban areas, there are 358 near-poor households with 1,022 residents, accounting for 0.03% of the city's total. In rural areas, there are 9,570 near-poor households with 27,400 residents, accounting for 0.77% of the city's total.
The data on poor and near-poor households will be the base for the municipal government to develop and implement socio-economic development, poverty reduction, and social welfare policies in 2025.
The Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs is tasked to lead relevant departments, agencies, and district-level authorities to implement social welfare policies for poor and near-poor households.
